Outstanding investigative journalists can apply for a fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley School of Journalism in California.

The investigative reporting fellowships, sponsored by UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, give two working journalists the opportunity to complete a year-long fellowship.

Last year’s winners were Trevor Aaronson, a staff writer for Village Voice Media and Lee Wang, a documentary filmmaker.

The fellowship includes an annual salary of US$51,000, benefits and working expenses up to US$10,000. Housing is not included and fellows must refrain from outside journalistic projects.

Applicants are required to have a strong track record of successfully reporting on complex projects in the public interest. Preference is given to graduates of UC Berkeley’s master’s program in journalism.
