Job Purpose:
Contribute to developing and implementing the Center’s national and international advocacy efforts by monitoring UN mechanisms, preparing policy and position papers, coordinating participation in advocacy activities, and fostering relationships with human rights organizations and international partners, thereby enhancing the Center’s impact on human rights and freedom of expression issues.
Roles and responsibilities
First: Advocacy
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the Center’s advocacy plans.
- Drafting policy papers, position papers, and briefing notes.
- Preparing messages and memoranda regarding advocacy issues.
- Monitoring the implementation of advocacy activities and plans in coordination with various programs.
Tracking political and legal developments relevant to the Center’s areas of work and identifying advocacy opportunities
Second: United Nations and International Mechanisms:
- Managing the organization’s account on the UN platform.
- Preparing and submitting periodic consultative status reports.
- Preparing for and coordinating participation in Human Rights Council sessions.
- Coordinating with various teams to prepare contributions, reports, and statements for UN mechanisms.
- Managing registration and participation in relevant sessions, meetings, and events.
Maintaining a periodic calendar of international deadlines and obligations relevant to the Center’s work.
Third: Relations and Institutional Support
- Supporting preparations for management meetings with international entities, human rights bodies, and diplomatic missions.
- Preparing briefing dossiers and meeting minutes.
- Helping maintain a database of international relations and strategic partners.
- Representing the Center at technical meetings, events, and in the media when assigned.
Fourth: Internal Coordination:
- Coordinating with the Center’s team and various programs.
Required skills and qualifications:
Qualifications
- University degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations, Human Rights, or a related field.
Experience
- 4–6 years of experience with human rights organizations or civil society.
- Experience with UN mechanisms.
- Experience in drafting policy papers, memoranda, or human rights reports.
- Experience in coordinating with international partners.
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of the UN system and human rights mechanisms.
- Excellent research, analytical, and document-drafting capabilities.
- Strong skills in preparing policy papers and briefings.
- Proficiency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
- Organizational, follow-up, and priority management skills.
- Ability to represent the organization in the media, with partners, and in technical meetings.
