Within the framework of the work of the Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression (SCM) in building a society based on respecting and protecting the right to free expression of opinion, and supporting media work and upgrading its, the media and freedom program in the SCM plans to conduct a training to enhance the journalist’s capabilities in the field of

“Gendering Media Speech from a Female Perspective”

SCM is looking for a trainer to prepare and conduct virtual (online) training targeting 30 female journalists (2 groups) according to the attached terms of reference.

1. Training Title:

    “Gendering Media Speech from a Female Perspective”

    2. General Objective:

    Enhancing the capabilities of female journalists to produce gender-sensitive media content that promotes gender equality and reflects women’s issues fairly.

    3. The Detailed Objectives:

      1. Clarifying the concept of gender and its importance in media Speech.
      2. Providing practical tools to develop a fair and sensitive media Speech for women’s issues.
      3. Enhancing the ability to deal with gender stereotypes in the media.
      4. Developing the skills of media workers to apply gender in their media coverage.
      5. Enhancing the ability to analyze and criticize media discourse from a women’s perspective.
      6. Encouraging women’s participation in preparing and presenting media content.

      4. Target Group:

      1. Female journalists from various media outlets (visual, audio, and written).
      2. From different regions of Syria and neighboring countries.

      5. Qualifications and skills required:

      1. A university degree -at least- in a related field (preferably in media, social studies, or gender)
      2. Practical experience in the field of media (not less than five years).
      3. Proven in-depth knowledge of gender concepts and how to apply them in the media.
      4. Specialization in speech analysis and media content development.
      5. Ability to provide practical examples and critical analysis.
      6. Experience and understanding of the Syrian context and the issues facing stakeholders in Syria.
      7. Excellent training skills (preparing training packages – effective communication skills – feedback – evaluation tools – report writing).
