Journalists and visual artists can apply for a residency program in Peterborough, New Hampshire.

The MacDowell Colony provides time and space for journalists to work on longform projects for two to eight weeks. The next residency will take place between Oct. 1, 2017 and Jan. 31, 2018.

Journalists with professional standing in their fields, as well as emerging journalists, are eligible. Writers, visual artists, composers, filmmakers, playwrights, interdisciplinary artists and architects come from all parts of the United States and abroad.

The program is free. A stipend of up to US$2,500 is provided, in addition to funding to help reimburse journalists for travel to and from the colony. Financial aid forms are available upon acceptance and aid is awarded based on need.

The deadline is April 15.
