NewsU hosts free webinar on mass shootings reporting [Worldwide]

Journalists interested in best practices in covering mass violence can register for this online course.

News University, the Poynter Institute e-learning project, is offering the course “Covering mass shootings” at 2 p.m. EDT May 31.

Participants will learn the best methods for informing the public of mass shooting scenarios, accurate language for describing suspected mental health issues and tips on details that can contribute to contagion.

The instructor is Dr. Dan Reidenberg, executive director of Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (SAVE), and Kelly McBride, vice president at the Poynter Institute.
