Vacancy details:

Job title: Project Manager – Erbil

Program/ Project/ Department: Programs Development & Fundraising Department

Positions available: 1 vacancy.

Duration of the contract: 12 months (From 01/02/2023 to 31/01/2024).

Work Station: Erbil – Iraq.


Roles and Responsibilities:

Planning: Ensure that a forward and proactive project management is adopted and detailed implementation plans are in place, understood by members, and effectively implemented as scheduled.

Implementation: Lead the successful implementation of all EU project deliverables, develop and implementation timetable for the project, and the Project Coordinator to ensure delivery targets of high quality and within the timeframe and budget, and in full adherence to contractual requirements and constraints.

Follow-up & Control: Continuously track progress against its preset objectives and appropriate completion of tasks and activities project work plans. 

Reporting: With support from M&E/Accountability and the Project Coordinator, ensure quality project activities and achievements and document practices and lessons learned in the implementation. 

Monitoring: the project outputs in correlation preset indication mechanisms and reporting the findings to the relevant team members. In facilitating the coordination with the MEAL team in order to execute the monitoring and evaluation and the relevant exercises. 

Budget Holding: Hold the relevant components project budget and act as the main focal point of the expenditure in relation to the project action objectives, as well as design and duly introduce recommendations to the financial plan. 

Context: Progressively lead on reading and relevant contextual abstracts and developments provide the project team members – as well management team – with the relevant updates, to designing and suggesting suitable recommendations where and when applicable. 

Communication: Ensure that participant victim families, SCM management, and donor(s) are informed and included in all relevant project developments. 

Evaluation: Lead on designing the third-party well as collaborate with the external evaluator for the necessary input and evidence. 

Procurement: Lead, in coordination with the Coordinator, on providing the procurement timely and detailed procurement plans rhymin.


Requirement, Skills, and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in International Development studies, program/project management or area of study to support knowledge in program/management;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with human rights/humanitarian assistance/projects with at least 2 years of project experience;
  • Desirable / Priority will be given to candidates with experience in managing civil society transitional justice with a focus on victims’-led and organizations;
  • Strong writing skills and ability to write quality reports, updates and success stories;
  • Proven project management skills, including activity and data management;
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills, approach to problem-solving;
  • Experience in liaising with donors, partners international bodies such as the EU and the UN;
  • Previous experience managing and/or implementing funded projects; • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements;
  • Commitment to beneficiary accountability humanitarian/human rights ethics. 
  • Fluent Arabic and English speaker, sufficient Kurdish and/or any other European language.
