You are passionate about Human Rights, Justice and Rule of Law, Media and Freedoms, and/or Citizenship and Civil Society! You are interested in learning more about the Syrian context! You are familiar with project development (project cycle, logical framework…), contract cycle (concept notes, project proposals, reports)! The institutional fundraising officer will be responsible for:

  • Research and analysis: search for funding opportunities relevant to the “SCM” different programmes and projects, insure the funding opportunities are in-line with SCM mandate and line of work.
  • Project Development: lead on the design, the writing, and the submission of project proposals and concept notes, in collaboration with the Fundraising Manager.
  • Contractual and Grant management: Contribute to review the terms of contract with donors before signature; oversee that interim and final narrative reports are prepared on time and validate reports before submission; facilitate kick-off, follow-up and closure meetings.
  • External compliance: Ensure that final and intermediary narrative and financial reports, respect donors’ guidelines and SCM policies and procedures; respond to the due diligence processes conducted by donors; analyze donor procedures, and inform relevant departments of compliance challenges.
  • External representation: In close collaboration with the Fundraising Manager, represent the SCM in donor meetings, conferences and workshops; support programmes/project managers in donor meetings; lead external communication with donors, in particular on contractual issues.
  • Contribute to the overall Development Department objectives per request.
Roles and responsibilities
Excellent research skills and strong knowledge of institutional donors’ funding modalities, contractual management and reporting guidelines.

Strong written communication skills for both proposal and report writing.

Fluency in English is required (any other European language will be an advantage).

Strong sense of ownership for quality of work, deliverables and service.

Ability to manage multiple activities and work to agreed deadlines.

Good stress management; flexible and pragmatic by nature; known for interpersonal skills, patience and mediation, and have good practical sense.

Enhanced experiences:

  • Knowledge of the Syrian context, specificity of the Organization’s line of work (Human Rights, Justice and Rule of Law, Media and Freedoms, Citizenship and Civil Society) is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in Grants Development and Contract Management on OFDA/USAID, European Union/ECHO, AFD, GIZ, United Nations agencies is an advantage.
  • Management of partnerships with international and/or local NGOs is also an asset.
Competencies
University degree in relevant profession / studies

Minimum 3 years’ experience in grants development, fundraising and donor relations.
