Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression (SCM) is looking for a competent Program Coordinator to undertake a variety of administrative and program management tasks for its Media and Freedom Unit. The coordinator will help in planning and organizing programs and activities as well as carry out important operational duties. The goal will be to facilitate the effective management of programs according to the organization’s standards.
Work Requirements:
- Fluent in verbal and written Arabic and English
- Proven experience as program coordinator or relevant position
- Knowledge of program management and development procedures
- Knowledge of budgeting, bookkeeping and reporting
- Proficient in MS Office
- Ability to work with diversity and multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented and efficient
- Be very familiar with changes, players, influential in the Syrian situation on the local and national level, with particular attention to the local media and human rights work environments;
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of short and long term plans for programs and its activities, and monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance;
- Support database(s) maintenance which include(s) participant and prospect information and mailing list;
- Translate as needed into or from English, written or orally, maintaining message content, context, and style as much as possible;
- Organize and establish meetings/events on regular basis with designated individuals to foster positive relationships;
- Liaise with partners, funders, local media and other stakeholders to explain and promote the programme and its activities;
- Maintain budget and track expenditures/transactions;
- Properly and accurately document mailings, information and other data related to work as needed;
- Act as a focal point for SCM and keep good relations with local entities, media, civil society members, and NGOs;
- Adhere to professional standards as outlined by protocols, rules and regulations;
- Maintains safe working environment by complying with safety procedures, rules, and regulations;
- Preserve and protect beneficiary confidentiality in all situations and with all documentation;
- Share knowledge and provide orientation to other members of the staff, and train and supervise new and junior staff under their supervision;
- Performs other related duties as required.
