Job title: Communications Officer
Program/ Project/ Department: Policies, Advocacy and Communication.
Positions available: 1 vacancy.
Duration of the contract: 12 months (including a 3-month probation period).

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop a new internal and external communication strategy for the Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression (SCM), and ensure its implementation square.
- Develop and implement a promotion and visibility strategy for SCM and its programs.
- Manage press relations and communicating with journalists & media institutions.
- Monitor SCM’s presence in the media coverage and assess appropriate actions according to the communications strategy.
- Create presentations and draft communication materials for SCM, its programs and departments.
- Plan campaigns for SCM, its programs, and departments.
- Draft, translate and coordinate SCM’s statements and press releases.
- Maintain SCM’s contact database and update it when necessary.
- Manage several general inquiry email inboxes, ensuring all inquiries are answered or forwarded to the relevant department.
- Supervise the development of SCM’s new visual identity.
- Hold the policies, advocacy and communication department’s trackers and internal documents and resources, ensuring they are up-to-date.
- Participate in communications-related bid analysis and rebranding process, providing technical expertise.
- Advise the communication team, and ensure the capacity building of its members and the sustainability of teamwork.
- Adhere to and comply with the SCM’s values and confidentiality criteria .
- Maintain a safe working environment that complies with SCM’s procedures, rules and security arrangements.
- Maintain and protect the confidentiality and privacy of beneficiaries in all cases and whatever the documents and data.
- Perform any other task assigned by the Line Manager or his Immediate Supervisor.
Requirement, Skills, and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field (Journalism, Communication or Political and Social Studies).
- Up to 3 years of experience in a similar position, NGO-context preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in the main relevant technical areas: context-oriented interpersonal communication, informative and forward communication, integrated marketing communication (IMC), audiovisuals (photography, videography, sound, etc.), social media environments and developments, and creative and critical thinking.
- Proven previous experience in managing professional and organisational social media pages/ accounts AND utilizing common posting/ scheduling tools.
- Proven knowledge of using relevant softwares/ programs: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Premier.
- Proven previous experience in email marketing and communication and website management.
- Knowledge of using Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
- Strong skills in written and spoken English and Arabic.
