Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression (SCM) is looking for a Digital Security Officer who works under the guidance of the Head of Media and Freedoms Unit and SCM technical advisor. He/she will look after and support all aspects related to digital security (DS) in the unit, including designing the DS policy, providing technical support as needed, conducting trainings and creating written and visual content.
Work Requirements:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field;
- A minimum of 2 year experience in demonstrated DS functions;
- Proven experience of working within and Information Security team and providing security consultancy;
- Proven skills in creating written and visual content: Ability to draft, review, and edit information and computer security guidance content;
- Experience with design and implementation of online and in-person training solutions;
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and their application in a dynamic work environment;
- Demonstrated initiative in carrying out his/her duties and ability to work independently to tight deadlines;
- Excellent oral and written command of Arabic and good of English.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain digital security criteria and policy;
- Advise on, review and revise as required SCM’s internal information and computer security procedures to ensure continued security of sensitive information ;
- Identify, propose, plan and subsequently manage activities required for implementation of SCM’s DS vision;
- Create written and visual content to demonstrate DS information;
- Develop and conduct information and computer security training course for building awareness and enhancing computer security of beneficiaries;
- Assist with the implementation, administration, and support of security solutions and tools that meet the needs;
- Assess the potential impact and likelihood of threats and risks to the organization’s information infrastructure before events occur;
- Monitor digital channels for security threats and keep up to date on potential threats and source of threats;
- Document vulnerabilities, flaws, and their fixes while updating the team’s knowledge;
- Research and share updates of testing tools, techniques, and process improvements in support of security detection and analysis;
- Lead on computer security incident response activities and the technical investigations of information security related incidents;
- Interact and work with other sections, divisions, departments and external organizations as required to complete tasks;
- Assist project team in drafting monthly, quarterly and yearly project progress reports concerning DS issues;
- Properly and accurately document the work data;
- Keep good relations with local entities, media, civil society members, and NGOs;
- Adhere to professional standards as outlined by protocols, rules and regulations;
- Maintains safe working environment by complying with safety procedures, rules, and regulations;
- Preserve and protect beneficiary confidentiality in all situations and with all documentation;
- Performs other related duties as required.
