Job Vacancy Announcement: Coordinator – Civil Society Support

 

The Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression (SCM) is an independent, non-governmental and non-profit organization that aims for a society that guarantees freedom of expression, belief, human rights and access to justice. Since its establishment in 2004, SCM has worked to defend individuals persecuted because of their beliefs, promote human rights, and support and develop professional, independent and critical media.

 

The SCM currently focuses on human rights violations documentation, litigation for victims, and support for civil society and Syrian media/journalists. Our team members are based in Syria and neighboring countries, as well as Europe and the Americas, and our headquarters are in Paris, France.

 

The SCM is recruiting for a “Coordinator” who will help develop and implement plans and projects for the Civil Society Support program according to the identified needs and objectives by SCM.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

– Working directly with the unit manager on the development and implementation of plans and projects.

-Coordination of the work of multi-programs in the unit and at the organization level.

-Carry out tasks assigned to him\her  by the unit manager within the framework of the field of work and activities of the programs

-Managing the unit’s database and information and implementing periodic assessments and follow-up

-Preparing periodic production and execution reports

-Follow-up communication with civil organizations and develop partnerships and inter-cooperation

 

Required skills and qualifications

-Certificate in social/human sciences degree

-Proficiency in Arabic and English languages writing, reading and conversation

-Kurdish proficiency is a likely factor

-Proficiency any additional language is a factor of preference

-Experience in program management, civil action, and coordination of workshops and meetings

-Experience in managing information bases and evaluation and follow-up mechanisms

-Bear the pressure and work on several projects at the same time

-Working in a team with high connectivity capabilities

-Good knowledge of the Syrian context and international mechanisms and institutions

-Good knowledge in the use of modern software and technologies in team management, meetings and information processing.
