The Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression (SCM) is an independent, non-governmental and non-profit organisation that aims for a society that guarantees freedom of expression, belief, human rights and access to justice. Since its establishment in 2004, SCM has worked to defend individuals persecuted because of their beliefs, promote human rights, and support and develop professional, independent and critical media.<\/b><\/p>\n

The SCM currently focuses on human rights violations documentation, litigation for victims, and support for civil society and Syrian media\/journalists. Our team members are based in Syria and neighboring countries, as well as Europe and the Americas, and our headquarters are in Paris, France.<\/b><\/p>\n

The SCM is recruiting for a Communication Officer who will help develop the organisation\u2019s communication strategy and dissemination plans according to the identified needs and objectives by SCM.   • Develop the organisation and programs’ communication strategy and dissemination plans <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Develop short and long-term communication objectives, campaigns, projects and plans for the target audience(s)<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Build and develop campaigns and plans for dissemination, and supervising their implementation<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Contribute to the development of communication products that include texts, articles, and multimedia publications<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Supervise the publication process, implement communication plans, and issue periodicals<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Manage and coordinate the work of the communication team by managing files related to follow-up, documentation, and social media engagement and feedback \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Manage and update databases with contact details of journalists and civil organisations as well as sustain the channels of communication<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Build and develop the organisation\u2019s network of press and information relations develop approaches related to publication and journalists <\/span><\/li>\n

Qualifications<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Proficient in computer and internet programs related necessary for work<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Languages: Arabic and English; Kurdish is a plus, and French or German are also a preference <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Areas of Study: Media and Communication, E-Marketing, E-Media, Journalism<\/span><\/li>\n
  • At least two years of experience in communication, media, civil society, or similar fields <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Knowledge of website management, e-platforms, content development, publication management and interaction<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Detailed knowledge of the Syrian context (particularly parties involved in the conflict) as well as the Middle East and North Africa in general<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Strong communication skills <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Responsive and able to develop ideas <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Strong personality, able to bear pressure and multi-task <\/span><\/li>\n
  • Availability and ability to travel<\/span><\/li>\n
