Deadline approaching: Berkeley offers free digital journalism class

UC Berkeley is offering a free four-day workshop on digital journalism and Internet publishing.

The Web 2.0 Training, sponsored by the Knight Digital Media Center and UC Berkeley, provides participants with hands-on, newsroom-focused training on innovative reporting tools.

Topics to be covered include using interactive news maps, creating videos with Final Cut Pro, optimizing news rankings in Google, and using Facebook for news distribution.

The course is open to professional print, radio, broadcast and online journalists. There are 20 spaces available and the application process is competitive. Participants receive lodging, food and instruction, but travel costs are not included.
