Accountant (Turkish Nationals or Syrians with a valid residency permit)

Baytna Syria is seeking to recruit an Accountant responsible for performing general accounting, and ensuring accurate accounting systems and record keeping. The Accountant reports directly to the Finance Manager and coordinates activities with the Finance Officer. The Accountant liaises with the assigned CPA.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintains the general ledger and all related accounts with proper documentation and records of all transactions; prepare entries to the general and subsidiary ledgers to assure accuracy and compliance with the organization’s and established accounting principles

2. Responsible for monthly and year end closing of the general ledger including preparation of journal entries.

3. Responsible for maintaining computerized accounting system, backup control, assisting other accounting staff with questions and printing of computer generated reports and statements.

4. Stays current with developments, practice trends and promulgations in the accounting profession; monitors accounting systems and recommends new or revised policies and procedures.

5. Prepares monthly bank reconciliation for all accounts; verifies accuracy of bank statements and resolve questions or problems; maintains integrity of cash balances and cash flow systems.

6. Maintain other accounts and performs other accounting duties as required or as requested by the Finance Manager.

7. Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • More than three years of relevant experience, including at least one year of experience in nonprofit sector.
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related fields.
  • Familiarity with the Turkish related laws.
  • Arabic and English are required, Turkish is an asset.
  • Valid Turkish residency permits and ability to travel in the region.
  • Readiness to relocate to assigned location(s)
